WOW. HOUSE PARTY premiered 25 years ago today. I was 19.

As a former deejay, this film was amazing to me because it portrayed average African-American teens who spoke, dressed and behaved JUST LIKE my peer group. Shoutout to the original Three Parts & A Fade crew Trent D Aldridge, Durelle Singleton, Jay Mitchell and Clint King for incredible memories and life long friendships. Yall some good dudes.

In many ways House Party was a important counter narrative about the value and complexity of young black teens here in the USA. Shout out to Reginald Hudlin for presenting hip-hop culture and urban youth positively on the big screen when few were doing so.

Shoutout to Brandon Easton for the reminder.
